Die Multiair-Technik arbeitet bei der Ventilsteuerung mit elektrohydraulischen Aktuatoren, die den Einsatz von Nockenwellen überflüssig machen. Fiat verspricht ein gegenüber konventionellen Motoren um zehn Prozent erhöhtes Drehmoment und ein verbessertes Ansprechverhalten, bei gleichzeitiger Verbrauchsreduzierung um zehn Prozent. Zudem sollen die Emissionswerte halbiert werden.
